Work has officially begun on the construction of a new Faurecia seat mechanism plant in Yancheng, in the Chinese province of Jiangsu. The site should be fully up and running by the summer of 2013.
On December 7 the groundbreaking ceremony was held for a new seat mechanism plant in Yancheng. Among those in attendance were the directors of Faurecia China and the representatives of the Yancheng Economic-Technical Development Zone.
The 22,000 sq. m. factory is located in a fast-growing automotive manufacturing region, and will eventually produce up to four million mechanisms a year. It should be fully up and running by the summer of 2013.
Faurecia China president Jean-Michel Vallin commented: “This event marks an important stage in Faurecia’s strategy of increasing its share of the Chinese and export markets for seat mechanisms.”
