Faurecia and Rexel Launch Powered Green IT Classroom in Hubei
Faurecia and Rexel, a global leader in the professional distribution of products and services for the energy world, today officially launched a joint project aimed at providing access to technology for students in Sanxing Central Primary School, Yantianhe Town, Macheng City, Hubei Province.
The Green IT Classroom initiative will provide students at Sanxing school with access to 25 computers provided by Faurecia that will be fully powered by a solar generation plant installed on-site by Rexel.
Today’s opening ceremony was attended by Jinsong LIU, Macheng City Charity Federation Secretary, Sam XIA, Deputy General Manager of Faurecia China & Vice President, Faurecia Automotive Seating China Division, Mathias MIEDREICH, President of Faurecia Emissions Control Technologies Asia Division, Xunshi LUO, General Manager for Huazhang Automation, Rexel China’s Wuhan-based subsidiary, volunteers from both companies, as well as teachers and students from the school.
The Hubei Green IT Classroom is the latest venture in Faurecia’s participation in “IT Classroom Against Poverty”, a program launched by the social enterprise Netspring. By donating repaired idle computers to the program, Faurecia supports environmental protection and sustainable economy, while also contributing to the improvement of primary education in rural, underprivileged areas in China.
For this Hubei Green IT Classroom, Faurecia has partnered for the first time with the Rexel Foundation for a better energy future, whose mission is to provide greater access to energy efficiency for all, in order to complete the project. The Rexel Foundation alongside Rexel China has supplied a compact solar plant in the school which will provide a sustainable source of power for the computers in the IT classroom at Sanxing. Volunteers from Huazhang Automation helped to construct the solar plant at Sanxing and will visit regularly to teach students about sustainability and ensure the IT classroom is operating effectively.
