Faurecia's car seat concept Active Wellness™ 2.0 wins at iF DESIGN award
The result highlights Faurecia’s commitment to inspire the cockpit of the future with innovative solutions. Faurecia particularly focuses on the driving experience of occupants in a semi-autonomous or fully autonomous context.
“We are honored and excited about the recognition this award brings. Our goal is to ensure the well-being, optimum comfort and best possible safety by integrating biometric data, proactive analysis and connected-vehicle functions. This is greatly encouraging in our development of inspiring solutions to improve smart life on board”, said Frank Urban, Design Studio Manager at Faurecia.
Through sensors, the Active Wellness™ 2.0 seat collects and analyzes biometric data and remembers the driver’s preferences, allowing it to guess how the driver will be most comfortable based on his physical condition, time of day, traveling conditions and whether in semi-autonomous or autonomous mode. Then the seat system applies countermeasures pertaining to detected motion sickness, stress, discomfort, drowsiness, and readiness to operate controls. The Active Wellness® 2.0 seat is a forward-looking example of how the cockpit of the future, through the observation of the occupants and with the aid of data management, will be given more and more predictive functions and thus be able to adapt optimally to the needs of passengers.
The iF brand is internationally recognized as a symbol of outstanding design performance and has been considered one of the world’s most important design awards for over 60 years. The award honors design excellence in products, packaging, communication, architecture and interior design, as well as professional concepts. All winning concepts will be presented in the iF WORLD DESIGN GUIDE, published on the iF design app and exhibited at the iF design exhibition in Hamburg.
