Faurecians for Refugees: a successful fundraising campaign
A momentum of solidarity
In the last few months, millions of people have been trying to reach Europe, fleeing conflict in the Middle East. Facing the urgency of the crisis, Faurecia decided to join the momentum of solidarity by making an immediate donation of 250,000 euros to the Red Cross. The Group also organized an internal fundraising campaign, from September 28 to October 16, for employees willing to participate to this movement of solidarity. In about three weeks’ time, more than 84,000 € were collected around the world. This employee donation will benefit local NGOs working on the ground in supporting the refugees.
Faurecia also committed to match every employee donation by the same amount, in order to finance specific actions at major European Faurecia sites.
Local actions already underway
Some of these initiatives are already being deployed, in cooperation with local authorities, with the common objective of facilitating the integration of refugees into local communities:
- •In Germany, for instance, Weissenburg, Sterbfrtiz and Boblingen sites organize language training classes for refugees; Augsburg and Pappenheim offer refugees internships while Peine collects school materials.
- •In Poland, all sites will collect warm clothes, blankets & bedclothes as recommended by Polish Red Cross
Other Faurecia sites are expected to start implementing their own actions throughout Europe in the next weeks.
*Faurecians for Refugees is a solidarity program launched by the Group in late September to support refugees fleeing conflict in the Middle East, and based on three pillars:
1.Immediate donation of 250.000€ made by the Group to the Red Cross to help the millions of refugees living in camps in Jordan, Syria, Iraq and Lebanon.
2.Internal fundraising campaign carried out at European Faurecia sites and open to all Faurecians all worldwide
3.Specific actions at sites located in countries where refugees are being officially welcomed.
