Faurecia & Environment

A global approach

The door pannel of the Citroën C6

Protecting the environment involves a global approach that must take into account the efficiency of the finished product—the automobile—as well as every stage of development and production. Faurecia paves the way.

Reducing car pollution means cleaning up exhaust gases. Faurecia is a pioneer and world leader in the diesel particulate filter market and paves the way in promoting overall reduction of emissions. This involves both improving engine combustion and making lighter vehicles. To meet automakers’ target of a 10% weight reduction with every vehicle replacement, the Group is developing solutions using lighter materials, such as aluminum, plastic components and magnesium, along with lightweight soundproofing materials and ALES lightweight mufflers.

Recycled and recyclable materials are used as a priority with a view to combating pollution as soon as the vehicle hits the drawing board.

Faurecia is also reviewing its production processes to minimize environmental impact by eliminating the use of heavy metals and volatile organic compounds.
