A sensor hidden in the seats in the Volkswagen Passat CC detects the presence of passengers and issues an alert if the seatbelt is not fastened.
A second feature, currently marketed only in the United States, incorporates a front-passenger sensor able to determine the weight of the seat’s occupant—child or adult—to adapt the inflatable cushion accordingly.
