The protection of car occupants and vulnerable road users (VRU) such as pedestrians and cyclists is a major priority for Faurecia. The Group has implemented a comprehensive procedure to manage product safety from the development phase through to series production.
Faurecia R&D centers address both preventive safety and passive safety by developing Faurecia Care Systems (FCS) for each product line. This technology enhances safety through the development of materials and integrated systems to dissipate energy on impact.
Faurecia Care Systems involve an integrated safety approach that uses biomechanical and accident-research information to optimize the protection of occupants and VRU such as pedestrians and cyclists.
Faurecia is currently involved in a number of projects designed to improve safety. These include building a set of digital models of the human body, developing a VRU detection system and pioneering an integrated side-crash protection system.
