All the advantages for acoustic excellence

Acoustic protection plays a key role in vehicle comfort. A silent interior is synonymous with a comfortable, enjoyable and safe drive. Faurecia is in the ideal position to offer its customers acoustic solutions that optimize quality, cost and weight. Faurecia, rated among the top five suppliers of acoustic modules in Europe, draws strength from its cutting-edge research into acoustical engineering.

Gold standard research

Faurecia's research centers in Mouzon, France, and Sassenburg, Germany, use some of the most sophisticated acoustic analysis and simulation tools in the world. Its acoustics experts have pioneered an "acoustic synthesis method" that reproduces the sound inside the vehicle with pinpoint accuracy. A vehicle's acoustic module can therefore be optimized in terms of insulation and absorption without the automaker needing to create a prototype to evaluate performance.

Faurecia also provides its customers with access to the expertise of its acoustic research centers for testing out new concepts.

High-level acoustics expertise

Faurecia can tailor its sound engineering services to suit specific needs. A automaker might, for example, pre-select the required insulating products. After the required sound spectrum has been specified for the interior, Faurecia fine-tunes its product accordingly, while complying with cost and weight constraints. Faurecia's team of acoustics engineers can also optimize the vehicle's overall sound qualities.

A wide range of materials

Faurecia's extensive range of coverings and insulators are designed to soundproof the three main parts of the vehicle: the interior (floor carpets and dash insulators), the trunk (parcel shelves, side trims and trunk floor carpets) and the engine compartment (hood insulators and absorbers). The group is constantly expanding its range of materials to offer designers an ever wider choice of options, including sommold, a mixture of polypropylene fibers and fiberglass, which effectively dampens the vehicle's vibrations. Faurecia uses the FACT concept (Faurecia Acoustic Triangle Concept) to strike the balance that manufacturers require between the three key factors of cost, weight and acoustic performance. Faurecia's innovations include a lightweight acoustic material that boasts optimized acoustic performance at a reduced weight by combining insulation and absorption in a 4 or 5-layer structure.

Faurecia develops and produces acoustic modules that can be mounted directly in the assembly line, such as the parcel shelf, featuring speakers, brake lights, a rear seat locking system and seat belt retractors.
