It assembles its own parts with other components, such as mirrors, joints and wiring looms. Its responsibilities range from design activities to just-in-time deliveries to the manufacturer's assembly line, including development, mass-production and testing.
HIM: modular integration
Faurecia offers its customers highly integrated door modules (HIM). They contain all the door's main functions (window winder, electrical/electronic components, speakers, locking system) mounted on a plastic load-bearing structure. With this approach, the group can deliver complete and pre-tested door modules to the manufacturer, hence the increased quality and easy assembly. Modular integration also lightens the overall structure, thereby saving weight and reducing fuel consumption.
Expertise in all materials
When it comes to panel structures and door modules, Faurecia uses a full range of synthetic and natural materials, including wood fibers, natural fibers and thermoplastic composites. The aim is to reduce product weight and therefore help to reduce CO2 emissions. For the surfaces, the textiles, foils, skins and leathers are processed using such technologies as thermoforming, slush, back-foaming, overmolding and cutting & sewing. Materials are often combined to produce a harmonious effect. Whether added post-production (painted parts, films, etc…) or fitted to the door during manufacturing (seams, lights, integrated onto/into the skin, etc…), the decoration personalizes and brings to life the vehicle's interior.
Innovation is currently focused on hi-tech thermoplastic composites, which offer many advantages over metal in terms of precision, flexibility and the opportunities for integration during production.
