Faurecia and PSA Peugeot-Citroën have masterminded the exhaust heat recovery process. The aim is to recover the heat produced from fuel combustion to reduce the engine heating time and warm up the vehicle's interior.
Instead of discarding the heat emitted by the exhaust system, Faurecia's exhaust heat recovery system (EHRS) recovers the heat produced by the engine. The system uses a gas/water exchanger to heat the liquid within the heating system. This heating process is 25% faster than traditional systems.
The engine warms up more quickly, which consequently saves considerable fuel. The EHRS is both cost-effective and environmentally friendly.
