Innovation featured at Interior Motives China Conference 2010, on the eve of 2010 Beijing Motor Show
Now in its third year, the Interior Motives conference, which is dedicated to Design and Innovation, brought together a worldwide community of carmakers, suppliers and designers. This year's featured guests are the Chinese automakers. The conference hold debates on the rapidly evolving designs of these Chinese carmakers. Andreas Wlasak, Vice-President of Industrial Design, spoke in a Color & Trim session. He presented several Faurecia innovations, including the LIGNEOS concept.
China's car market is luxury-oriented and, especially in this market, the use of wood immediately signals luxury. In the past, wood has proved to be an expensive, rigid and heavy material. LIGNEOS allows Faurecia to achieve lightweighting and flexibility and even larger wood surfaces. This concept can fit door panels as well as seatbacks. Faurecia can do this using an industrial process that combines natural fiber-based substrate materials with a traditional wood veneer. We can supply the unmatched touch and feel of grained wood.
This represents another step forward in environmentally friendly solutions as well as further improvements in the quality of vehicle interiors.
Chinese Design studios have shown great interest in the LIGNEOS concept and in Faurecia's willingness to partner with them.
Faurecia is a Gold Sponsor of the Designer's Night, which will take place after the first Press Day of the Motor Show.
The Beijing Motor Show opens to the public on April 27.
