Audi A8: showcasing state-of-the-art seats

The new Audi A8, due for release in spring 2010, is reinforcing its leading position in the high-end sedan market with a strong array of new technologies. Faurecia has put the quality, comfort and multiple leading-edge features into each of the four independent seats.

The third-generation Audi A8, due for release in spring 2010, will clearly be focusing the spotlight on design and new technologies. The seats have been developed and assembled by Faurecia, boasting an unrivaled level of comfort and an exceptional array of easy-to-program features.

With four independent seats, the new A8 clearly aims to allow the driver and passengers to customize their individual level of comfort. To achieve this aim, Audi has gone for integrated air cushions - a first for the Audi range - including an amazing massage function built into the back of the seats with seven different programs available. The driver will enjoy the snug feel of the padded side bolsters, ensuring maximum driving comfort. Both front and rear seats feature a built-in ventilation and heating function for superior comfort in all types of weather. With various fabric options and four leather options available in a range of six colors, the choice of upholstery does justice to this luxury sedan.

Fingertip comfort control

The seats' features are within easy reach thanks to a multi-function adjustment on the side of the driver's seat and a touch panel built into the dashboard. The ultimate touch in refinement is that the front passenger seat has a control panel in the back for the passenger sitting in the rear, giving full control over the front seat, which can then be moved to provide more legroom and transform his or her own seat into a luxurious armchair that would not look amiss in an airline's first-class lounge.

Painstaking care lavished on the acoustic quality

Special care has been paid to the sound quality of the seats in the latest-generation Audi A8. For example, the metal frameworks and pneumatic components have been tested to guarantee discrete acoustic performance. The pneumatic pumps and heating/air conditioning devices have been incorporated into the metal frameworks using rubber shock absorbers to neutralize the effects of any vibrations. Furthermore, all seats are tested for zero acoustic vibration at the end of the production line.

With the Audi A8, Faurecia really is taking automotive seats to the cutting edge of technology!
