Today's automotive industry has to cater for the multiple needs of a global customer base and work towards environmental performance, all while keeping costs under control. These objectives are driven by Faurecia's R&D activity, which focuses on products, engineering and production.
Creating value for the end customer
Since vehicle models are increasingly based on common platforms, personalization, design and perceived quality are key to making the difference among consumers. Faurecia's R&D teams work with this objective in mind with 200 innovation projects organized by product lines.
Contributing towards environmental performance
Faurecia makes a major contribution towards reducing CO2 emissions and pollutants. Its R&D activity, credited as one of the inventors of the Diesel Particulate Filter, is currently directing research towards the treatment of nitrogen oxide.
As such, each core business strives to improve environmental performance, based on an analysis of the life cycle or by using new materials, such as natural fibers, composite materials and biomaterials.
Weight-saving vehicles
The primary aim of the Light Attitude project is to reduce weight. This group-wide approach to every product can lighten Faurecia-supplied components and modules by up to 30%. Thanks to the high level of integration, the group can work directly on the materials, components and assemblies. Example: the deployment of new product architectures to lighten doors.
Custom engineering
Faurecia is renowned for the excellence of its program-engineering expertise, supplied as part of a joint development approach with automakers.
