Thanks to an international network of 28 R&D centers, Faurecia is able to support international automakers in their global platform strategies.
A global network
The Faurecia network of 28 R&D centers across the world enables us to provide customers with the skills and experience of 3,500 engineers and technicians working throughout the world. These men and women have at their fingertips not only world-class technical expertise but also understanding of local and global final customer expectations and automobile market trends.
Whatever the marketplace, from the USA to India, from China to Germany or from Brazil to Japan or France, Faurecia teams have the capability to innovate in support of new automobile concepts or product development.
Enhanced capacity for innovation and development
Faurecia research and development is roughly 5% of annual revenues. Innovation, which is at the heart of each one of our businesses, is structured by a selection and approvals process that ensures that realistic and readily applicable technological innovations are made available to automakers. The process enables us to undertake 200 innovation projects every year, especially in our major areas of safety, comfort, interior design management, environmental performance, perceived quality and cost optimization.
Our ability to innovate can also be seen in our joint development projects with automakers.
Expertise in the management of complex global projects
For managing complex projects during the development phase, Faurecia has in place a rigorous methodology called the Program Management System or “PMS”. The aim of this methodology is to control all the processes activated during a project with an automaker. From the innovation phase to acquisition and through to design and development, right up to the start up of production, the PMS means that each of our professional contributions is with method, rigor and discipline.
Since 2007, the PMS has been strengthened by the Excellence in Program Management (EPM) initiative. EPM has for its unique objective customer satisfaction through product quality. It ensures that project milestones, deliverables and timeframes are met, that suppliers are fully-monitored and managed, that launches are rigorously prepared, that launch quality is flawless and that financial objectives are achieved.
