Drawing on expertise and operational responsibility

Skills development is one of the fundamental instruments for improving Faurecia’s industrial performance. Based on the Faurecia Excellence System, it involves developing the role of management and team skills.

Within the Group, professional development is considered to be one of the foundations of the production system. It also contributes to making Faurecia a company that has an ongoing focus on its employees’ development, thereby contributing to increasing each person’s employability. More specifically, the Group constantly scans the expertise and potential of its managers and professionals. It encourages them to develop their skills in their original area of expertise, in order to acquire a certain depth of knowledge and be in a position to leverage their experience most profitably. Then, mobility between functions enables them to capitalize on new technical expertise and consider managerial responsibilities. Career opportunities are constantly opening up within the Group depending on the performance and potential demonstrated by each individual. The aim is to generate the next generation of top managers and experts internally. Particular attention is paid to the management of career moves within the company to ensure that they remain appropriate in the short and medium term. Annual appraisals, career interiors and individual development planning play a decisive role in this area. The roles of “expert” and “manager” are crucial for Faurecia and the Group is very keen that they should enjoy the same level of recognition and prospects.

Recognizing and developing expertise

A professional career path designed to place experts on an equal footing with managers in terms of visibility, career prospects and recognition has been established within the Group to recognize the exceptional results achieved in various fields of endeavour. These experts could work in either product development or production processes. Three grades have been created: Expert, Senior Expert and Master Expert. At Faurecia, all managers play a crucial role in staff development. Both operational and functional managers are involved in evaluating their colleagues’ performance and potential. The functional managers are leaders in terms of developing professional skills, allocating resources and career management. Human Resources takes care of the career management process.
