Door module and its components: door panel, door panel
 |
| |

Faurecia produces door panels, door modules and complete doors
for the world’s major automakers. The Group is a world leading supplier of door panels, equipping
more than 7 million vehicles every year.
Faurecia
has now evolved towards the role of "full system supplier", assembling the
components it produces itself, like door panels and door modules, along with other elements such
as mirrors, seals and wiring, into a complete door system. Its responsibilities
include design, development, industrialization and testing, and end with
just-in-time delivery to the automaker’s assembly line. |

For its door panel and door module structures,
Faurecia uses a full range of synthetic and natural materials, including
thermoplastics, highly-engineered thermoplastic composites, metal/plastic hybrids,
fiber-reinforced polyurethanes and wood natural fiber composites. For the
surfaces, textile, foil, skin and leather are processed using technologies
such as thermoforming, slush, back-foaming and overmolding, and different
materials are often combined to harmonious effect.
The door plays a crucial
role in protecting occupants in the event of a frontal and side impact.
Faurecia has applied its know-how in both safety and material behavior to
engineer unique solutions using energy-absorbing structures.

Intro Innovations
To add value for its customers, Faurecia bases its innovation on renewing
existing concepts and improving process efficiency. For the door structures,
innovation is currently focused on composite plastics, which offer greater
precision, flexibility and integration opportunities in production than
metals, and more competitive solutions in terms of technical performance,
weight and cost.
The HIM,
or High Integrated Module, was launched in 2001;
production is now running for around 650,000 vehicles a year, and Faurecia
is currently developing the third generation HIM.
PU
cast skin is a high-quality skin offering a vast range of design options.
New Faurecia door solutions currently in series
production include the following vehicles:
