Mastering the module architecture
The
Group’s module architecture specialists work alongside the automaker's teams to
integrate their full range of requirements including safety, styling, cooling and perceived quality.
Sophisticated calculation and simulation tools are
then used to design and develop the product.
Industrialization
is a key concern throughout the development phases. Faurecia uses its
considerable experience in plastic injection molding, painting, and assembly
processes and innovates continuously in these fields.
This experience, combined
with the strict application of the Faurecia Excellence System on all its sites,
ensures that a consistently high level of quality is delivered to the customer.
Expertise in components
Faurecia’s front end module approach is based on a front end carrier made of a composite material. Different components and functions are
integrated and assembled onto this structural backbone.
Faurecia’s bumpers and engine cooling fan systems can be incorporated into
the front end module, but are also designed and produced to be supplied as
standalone units to the customer. Specific know-how in these components adds
strong value to Faurecia’s offer, whether in terms of aeraulic
performance, fit and finish , or the protection of both pedestrians and the vehicle.
Front end modules and bumpers are assembled and delivered in just-in-time mode,
allowing automakers to simplify their supply-chain, reduce assembly time
and optimize quality management.
Innovation priorities
Faurecia has several innovation priorities in
the front end area, and places a major emphasis on cooling, structure,
safety and perceived quality. The
XRI
plastic material process, which offers high performance and low material
cost, is one example of a Faurecia innovation currently applied to several
front end carrier programs.
For bumpers and front end carriers, pedestrian
safety issues, energy absorption and regulatory requirements are integrated
at during the early stages of design.
Because the vehicle’s front end is so visible, its quality as perceived
by the consumer must be flawless. Faurecia works closely with the automakers
to develop optimal technical and industrial solutions such as mEasy,
an innovative system for ensuring fit and finish between the bumper, headlights,
hood and fenders.
