On September 6, Yann Delabrière, Faurecia Group Chairman and CEO, the Vice Governor of Jilin Province and the DGM of FAW-Volkswagen Group cut the ribbon on a new R&D center in Changchun, China.
The new R&D center will focus on the design, development and testing of a variety of products, such as car seats, instrument panels and door panels. It will also serve as the head office of Changchun Faurecia Xuyang Automotive Technology, a joint venture formed by Faurecia, Changchun Xuyang Group (the leading automotive equipment supplier in China) and Jilin University.*
“The establishment of the new R&D center marks a new chapter in Faurecia’s development in China and reflects the importance Faurecia ascribes to the Chinese market, technological innovation and close cooperation with Chinese partners,” Mr. Delabriere said. “With this new R&D center, we will be able to develop new projects for our customers. At the same time, with the help of Jilin University, the center will also focus on the research and development of new materials, which will help us better cope with the challenges in the future.”
“Faurecia has world-leading technologies, concepts and experiences and we value the partnership with Faurecia,” said Cheng Zuoping, President of the Xuyang Group. “We believe that this new R&D center will stand as a milestone in the cooperation between both parties and also will help strengthen our two companies’ leading position in the industry.”
*Jilin University, one of the top 10 universities in China, is renowned for its capabilities in automotive engineering and has provided numerous talents to China’s automotive industry. This is the first time that Faurecia has partnered with a university in China, providing the company with a new approach to achieving further breakthroughs.
