This is how Faurecians shape a better future for their local communities

Chapô
Yesterday was #GivingTuesday, the global initiative that encourages people and organizations to donate their time and money to charitable causes. Launched in the US in 2012, it has been celebrated each year since then, on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday. At Faurecia, it is all year long that our employees mobilize for their local communities in various ways – FUELS actions, Faurecia Foundation projects and now the launch of a pilot Solidarity platform. Let's pay tribute to them by sharing a few stories!

FUELS – Faurecia Unites with Employees for Local Service
An annual charity campaign driven by our local teams around the world

Created in 2010 by Faurecia North America employees to fight hunger, the FUELS initiative has gradually expanded to a wider scope of causes and countries. Faurecians have always been keen on engaging in this campaign – and 2021 was no exception.

  • In September, employees from Canada, Mexico and the United States got involved in the “Help from the Heart” campaign, with the objective to fight hunger and advance education for children in Canada, Mexico and the United States. They raised $186,140 USD in over 50 sites across North America. To match their generosity, Faurecia donated additional funds – which led to a total of $245,890 USD.
  • On October 5th, 60 Faurecia Germany employees gathered at the Hören Augsburg children & youth center to conduct 8 refurbishing projects: classrooms, premises, school garden and playground renovation, new infrastructure creation.
  • In November, the annual China ‘Volunteer Month’ was held. A thousand of employees from more than 20 sites joined the “Backpack-on-the-Go” activity with their families: a long-distance walk to win backpacks to be donated to schools and unprivileged beneficiaries. Throughout the month, sites were also very active in organizing the ‘Smiling Action’ donation campaign – school supplies for children –, a blood drive in Shanghai and raising funds.
  • In France, the Henin Beaumont and Magny Vernois sites engaged in the ‘Solidarity Month’ through donations campaigns and activities conducted in partnership with local NGOs.

Accelerating our social impact with the Faurecia Foundation

Our company Foundation was created two years ago: the objective was to give employees more means and financial resources helping them to make a positive contribution to society. Since 2020, 14 employee-led projects have been supported in the fields of education, mobility, and the environment. The Foundation was also active in building external partnerships to provide support during the COVID-19 crisis and acted in favor of women’s empowerment.

We’re happy to release today the Foundation’s 1st newsletter, coming back on those 2 years of engagement (check it out in the 'related documents' section).

New this year! A one-stop web platform dedicated to solidarity

Named "Faurecia Solidarity", this volunteering platform developed with the company Wenabi centralizes all solidarity actions across the Group: Faurecia Foundation projects, site actions and events, volunteering missions and donation campaigns. It will be opened to all Faurecians early 2022. In the meantime, a pilot version is already running in the United States and France.

Empower children to go to school safely and autonomously, every day: this is the objective of Bike to School – a solidarity initiative proposed and driven by Faurecia Morocco employees. Back in 2020, the idea was submitted to the Faurecia Foundation and got selected out of 300 proposals across the Group – along with ‘Improve education for girls’ in India and ‘Refauresta’ in Mexico. In 2021, Bike to School has become a reality! This is an important milestone for the Foundation, and an effective way to fight school dropout locally.
