Seat module and its components: covers, frames, foams, adjustment mechanisms
Automakers today are looking for highly customized
seat sets, in order to differentiate their vehicles and meet the consumer’s
increasing demand for personalized equipment. Car seats now incorporate a wide
range of functions, including lower back adjustments, shoulder adjustments,
heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and electric controls. Faurecia also offers a vast range of retractable, adjustable, and foldable rear seats that enhance vehicle differentiation.
As Europe’s leading seat
manufacturer, and one of the top three worldwide, Faurecia puts its seating
expertise to work on its customers' behalf, providing end users with
personalized, safe seats offering postural comfort
at the right price.
Faurecia designs and assembles seats and
manufactures their main components: frames, adjustment mechanisms, foam and covers. From the conception onwards Faurecia integrates both the automaker's objectives in
terms of cost and weight reduction, and all the regulatory aspects relative to
safety and the environment.
As a complete seat architect, Faurecia has created the concept
of flexible metal structures, which can be adapted to various vehicle bodies on
one or several platforms. These structures are so flexible that they can be
used by different automakers, who share the cost benefits of short development
lead-time and mass-produced standard components.
This flexibility also means unmatched freedom for the seat design teams. By mastering a wide
range of seat trimming processes, Faurecia can transform the design studio’s ideas
into optimized industrial products.
Comfortable seats, enhanced safety
Ventilated
seats are a recent innovation that ensure optimal
thermal comfort for the occupant whatever the weather conditions outside.
To improve comfort, Faurecia’s high-performance
foam offers either enhanced performance for a given volume or reduced
volume for given performance criteria, for example on slimline seats,
which help to optimize the vehicle’s interior space.
With seats playing such a vital role in protecting vehicle occupants,
safety is a major research priority at Faurecia. The research center in
Brières, France, employs 150 people to find ways to make car travel safer.
Research areas include active anti-submarining systems, which prevent
the occupant from sliding under the seatbelt in the event of impact.

production include the following vehicles:
