In 2015 Faurecia initiated a digital transformation across its operations using the Industry 4.0 or ‘Internet of Things’ approach. The Group’s digital transformation supports not just excellence in operations and manufacturing but also its CO2 neutral ambition by rendering processes paperless at 115 sites, as well as supporting the collection and analysis of data related to emissions.
Using new solutions for production processes and across its supply chain, the Group has deployed 920 automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and 680 collaborative robots (cobots) to date. As well as this, pull system (automatic production launch signal) digitalization will strengthen plant operational performance. These digital management tools open new prospects for optimizing the use of industrial assets. Introducing artificial intelligence for visual inspection of parts improves quality and reduces process variability.
These new systems require new job profiles and create opportunities for employees to develop their skills and acquire new competences. To support its workforce, the Group offers training modules on machine connectivity, robot programming, industrial software usage and data analysis.
